Theocracy Not Abortion
September 29, 2008
|
Just returned from the Women's Summit. Sally Roesch Wagner was the key note and she said something we all should consider. She said we all should quit talking about abortion; and we all know it is a dead conversation; seldom do people change their minds. She suggests the more pertinent question is, do we want a theocracy and if we do, what are the benefits of that. Her suggestion is that the abortion issue is being driven by the imposing of religious values in our govt. The question, she suggests, is - is that what we want and what are the benefits or disadvanatages of that. Very interesting to look at this question from this vantage.

Is Gov. Palin's VP appointment an affirmation of women's skills?
September 2, 2008
|
|
The blogs are buzzing about whether VP nominee Sarah Palin can handle the campaign, potentially being President, and her full plate as mom of four kids and a special needs baby and now a grandmother. We know the "full plate" feelings and fatigue of working mothers and we marvel at our sisters' abilities to multi-task and manage.
Did Senator McCain affirm working mothers and gifted women with his appointment? Whether or not you agree with his/her politics, how do you feel about this nomination as an affirmation of women?
As veterans of juggling home and career, many of us know this challenge and now support our daughters and daughters-in-law with balance issues? Would you, if you were Sarah Palin, have answered Yes to McCain's invitation to run for VP given what's on Sarah Palin's plate right now? Will her candidacy be good for women's aspirations?
