Solid Waste Management Public Input
June 19, 2009
|
The city of Rapid City is looking for input on how it should deal with trash, recyclables and other solid waste for the next five to 20 years. Some ideas on the table are mandatory recycling and generating energy from waste, said Jerry Wright, superintendent of solid waste operations.
The current management plan, which was created in the early 1990s, included bringing the landfill into state and federal compliance, composting yard waste and building a city recycling center, Wright said. Public meetings will be held in the future.
Residents can also e-mail ideas to Wright by going to the city's web site at www.rcgov.org/pubworks/solidwaste/solid_waste_homepage.htm.
