Three remaining public meetings will give citizens opportunity to learn about the proposed county septic ordinance directly from Planning and Zoming. Bring your questions and get answers from folks who helped draft the ordinance. Learn why protecting water now is a whole lot cheaper than than coping with polluted water sources!

Bravo!! We had a great day! “Family fun and serious grass roots engagement about Rapid City’s future. The event was free.
Thanks for the puppet show–Sue Hey and Leonard Running. Thanks Mollie O Krafka and Heather Krafka Rederth for sharing your children's book. Thanks HS students and Donna Robinson for displays and activities.
Thanks to 8 subcommittees (Education, Water, Recycling, Energy, Land Use, Transportation, Local Food, and Natural Assets –parks, wildlife, etc) for displays and lots of public interaciton. Thanks to members of the Green Future Task Force are Roger Hall, Eirik Heikes, Suzanne Martley, Jessica Miller, Timothy Roach, Cynthia Matson, Aaron Sanders.
Thaks to Mayor Hanks for his greetings and City Council member Patti Martinson for listening to citizens.
Thanks for the recycled art fashion show by Black Hills State University art students sponsored by Fierce Modeling Agency, Planet Hair, Black Hills State University and the Rapid City Arts Council. What fun!!

Protecting My Neighbor's Water and My Investment

Democracy in Action has worked for protection of water. The proposed Pennington County Septic Ordinance (download draft here) will be discussed at a series of public meetings sponsored by Planning and Zoning. All six public meetings will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 – New Underwood City Hall
Thursday, March 18, 2010 – Wall Community Center+
Tuesday, March 23, 2010 – Johnson Siding Community Center
Thursday, March 25, 2010 – Hill City, High School Theater

Commissioners and the Planning and Zoning Commission members have been invited to these meetings. Please write to them about your support for this ordinance using this contact information.
